In Texas, you can divorce your spouse using one of two different
methods.
The first method, the uncontested divorce, is usually the most
affordable and quickest way to get a divorce.
The second method, the contested divorce, is usually much more
costly and takes more time.
What exactly is an uncontested divorce?
An uncontested divorce, at least in Houston, is when both the husband
and wife can agree on all of the terms of the divorce and will sign all
divorce documents without any fighting.
A contested divorce, on the other hand, is when the husband and wife
are unable to agree on all the terms of the divorce. That is, if there is
any dispute, you can not get an uncontested divorce. Disputes can
range from something as trivial as who gets the new television set, to
a more complex yet extremely important issue such as who gets the
children for Christmas Break.
